COACH MCCANNA
Adam McCanna
Head Coach 14U
Adam McCanna got a late start in basketball, only beginning to play as a way to meet friends when he and his mother moved to Iowa when he was 16 years old. After a successful senior high school season, he earned a scholarship to the University of Denver, where he played for 4 years. Upon graduating from DU, he played professionally for five seasons in Europe, Asia, and the CBA. After meeting his wife, Ines, while playing in Canada, he decided to retire from basketball and travel the world and move back to Denver.
McCanna started coaching youth basketball when two of his sons were 5 and 6 because he was frustrated with the lack of skills and fundamentals being taught by most youth coaches. He decided to use his knowledge and love for the game to have a positive impact on as many kids as possible. He has continued to coach all levels of youth basketball for the past 12 years, priding himself on player development and getting his teams to compete at a high level.
